THIS TRIP WAS A MOTIVATION DURING HIS HOSPITALISATION

The world turns upside down when your child is diagnosed with cancer. As a family, you're faced with immense challenges. But the prospect of a family vacation offers a glimmer of hope, a reason to keep on fighting the disease together. That was exactly the case for 12-year-old Nicky.

“This trip – by pure chance – took place just a week before Nicky’s 12th birthday and it was a special holiday for a number of reasons. Two years ago, Nicky was running loads of tests, only to be admitted to the paediatric oncology ward with a stage 4 diagnosis. This trip symbolised just how far we have come as a family. Nicky was told about the possibility of this trip a few days from his diagnosis and, during his five months in the hospital, this trip was a motivation and something he hoped he would get to do when things get better. For the whole family, his elder brother included, this trip allowed us to be carefree again – experience that childlike joy all together in a place that is truly magical. Thank you.”
